Well folks, sorry for the long pause in posts, we've all been pretty busy. It's been great to get out on the occasionally sunny day on the bikes, but apparently it's monsoon season here in the Northeast, because the rain just keeps coming and coming. There have already been some memorable rides, though, including an epic 6 hour ride which ended at the Shed Pub and Brewery in Stowe. I'm not sure they'll let us back in there after we tracked in 10 pounds of mud, but we had a great time, riding at times through a foot or more of water down some pretty steep slopes. We've also all managed to take a trip or two over the 'bars, and all of our bikes are already in need of tune-ups, so I guess we're doing something right!
The rain also won't stop us from going on a 20 mile hike on the Long Trail this weekend. The 3 of us, along with our good friend and hiking buddy Biz, will be out for 2 nights in northern VT. We'll be departing from Hazen's Notch Friday in 2 waves, Biz and I around 10am, J and J around 2. First day is about 7 miles to Jay Camp, Saturday is about 13 miles, over Jay Peak, to the Canadian Border. Then, down to Journey's End Camp, and 1/2 a mile to the car full of steaks and beverages. I'm sure we'll get rained on, but what the heck, we'll still have a rockin' time. After this I will only have about 50 miles left to finish the LT, getting close. Stay tuned next week, we should have some pictures from the trip up on line for your viewing pleasure...
Stay Dry...
